We actually met on Facebook. Started talking and went out for a drink. Nine hours later, we were still in the pub. It was a good first date! The first proposal took place in a beer garden at a local folk festival then after asking for my dad’s permission, the second took place in Dublin. That was 4 months after we met.
We really wanted to get married on the beach and ideally wanted somewhere short haul so more of our friends could come. Greece is such a beautiful country so we were really happy when we found out we could get married there. Agios Sostis island looked truly breathtaking and knowing that we could hire it exclusively, allowing us to have privacy during our ceremony made it an easy choice.
We travelled to Zante the year before the wedding to have a look at the private Island, the reception venues and to meet up with the local coordinator. At the end of the holiday, we knew we had made the right choice about getting married on Zante and Agios Sostis Island with Ionian Weddings.
They thought it was the most amazing wedding location ever. They loved the island of Zante and lots of them are planning to return, including us!
The ceremony took place in the evening so we had spent the evening before and the whole day apart. Seeing each other for the first time on our wedding day was very special and something we will both remember. It was emotional.
We chartered a boat a couple of days before the wedding and the captain turned up at the ceremony. In the group shot of all our friends, you can just make out Panos the boat captain behind one of our friends.
If you want a truly unique and romantic location that you will remember for the rest of your life, then you can't do better than Agios Sostis Island. Ionian Weddings were so helpful in planning every detail. We were initially worried about the relaxed approach to doing things in the Mediterranean but after dealing with Ionian Weddings, I knew we would have no problems. It was a truly amazing day and we thank everyone involved from the bottom of our hearts for making the best day of our lives, the best it could be.
