Historic Weddings in the Mediterranean
Greece, Cyprus, Italy & Malta offer some magnificent historic buildings which are available for civil weddings.
In Greece, Corfu's old Ionian Parliament hosts the civil weddings on the island. It is conveniently located close to the Old Palace and to the famous Liston Cafe area, which are both popular areas for photos. Corfu Old Town has UNESCO protected status due to its unique architecture which is reminiscent of the narrow streets and balconies of Florence.
Skiathos Town Hall has a unique location on a small islet (Bourtzi) connected to the main town. It can be seen in the film Mamma Mia.
St Georges chapel offers the opportunity to get married in the heart of the historic Lindos - a town and archaeological site on the east coast of Rhodes, famous for the ancient acropolis which is also UNESCO listed.
Spinalonga is a small island at the entrance of Elounda Bay and a former Venetian fortress. The island has become famous in recent years as the setting for Victoria Hislop's bestselling novel "The Island".
In Kefalonia, Ionian Weddings is the only company to offer weddings at the grounds and courtyard of the medieval chapel in the beautiful seaside town of Assos.
And not forgetting Cyprus where we can offer a former 17th Century Monastery, the famous Paphos Castle and a Historic traditional Cypriot Inn.
In Malta we offer the spectacular Maltese Palace, the Maltese Castle, the enchanting Mdina Palace and many more historic venues. Malta is probably the best wedding destination for historic venues owing to its rich Knights and colonial heritage.
In Italy the 14th Century San Francesco Cloisters are a very popular location for weddings in Sorrento and many of the town halls we feature are located in historic buildings
